Tight buffered cable does not have the hard outer covering. It is more flexible and suitable for indoor installations, such as risers between floors, under data centre raised floors and fibre to the desktop. This kind of flexibility is key for interior designs, where large and unwieldy cables can be unattractive. Tight buffered cables are not as moisture or cold resistant, but the sheltered nature of indoors installations means that they’re not likely to come into contact with such elements.

For organisations that do want fibre to the desktop, inter- floor or Data Centre cabling, tight buffered cables are the way to go.
